Position Summary
The primary objective of this high-profile role is to advance and protect the MetLife’s brand and reputation across China and move the organization to the position of a local leader for the industry.
The core responsibility of the role is the strategic alignment with business objectives and leadership priorities, locally and regionally to advance the company profile externally and engage employees internally. The role will center on connecting and building relationships with current and future stakeholders using a broad mix of communications channels.
The role holder will work with the Regional Head of Communications Asia to create a best-in-class communications organization while serving as a change agent in communicating with MetLife’s many key constituents as the company transforms.
Concurrently, the role holder will have responsibility to: work closely with the Head of Government Relations to support advocacy efforts through PR positioning; and drive the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility agenda by defining and operationalizing a strong direction for the local country CSR program that ensures its contribution to the company’s reputation, employer brand, and employee engagement.
Principal Accountabilities:
Develop and deliver a cohesive, impactful, and reputation-enhancing Communications strategy that effectively leverages the combined strengths, contacts, and skills of communications and corporate social responsibility to engage all stakeholders both internal and external.
Be responsible for communications with a wide range of stakeholders, including employees, shareholders, medias, and influential members of the business community, the press, communities and the public.
Be a key advisor to China CEO and needs to partner with executives and relevant associates to communicate with internal and external parties, to advise and participate in decisions that may impact the reputation of the company.
Manage the reputation risks and opportunities of the company, both internally and externally across China. Maintain good reputation for company across the many traditional and social media channels in China.
Build corporate branding through external communication. Help to embed the strategy across all levels of the company.
Drive internal communication and engagement to inculcate a strong company culture
Be an active partner with MetLife Foundation to implement China CSR activities and ensure global consistency, drive business growth through engagement programs across the company.
Lead and develop a team of Communications professionals and supporting liaison personnel located across China, ensuring that MetLife has the world-class talent it needs in Chine to effectively advance the company’s business agenda, manage its reputation and positively influence its key stakeholders.

Qualifications:
1.Education
University degree or above; Major of Communications, PR, Marketing, Business, Finance preferred
2.Experience
At least 15 years in communications, PR, or brand management, with 8+ years managing teams. Proven success in leading corporate communication strategies in China.
Prefer Life insurance, banking background or financial services, and multinational experience. CSR program management and crisis response experience required.
3.Professional Competencies
Excellent Chinese and English skills; able to draft executive speeches, media statements, and Q&As independently. Strong knowledge of China’s media landscape and networks with journalists, editors, and KOLs.
Able to Translate business strategy into communication plans and measure impact. Familiar with digital content strategies on WeChat, Weibo, RedNote, and Tiktok.
Familiar with financial communications compliance and ESG trends; able to integrate social responsibility into brand storytelling.
