Lead a group of scientists to support the Company’s Ab discovery department. The main responsibility is to develop and lead team, expand technical capability, and grow the business.

Responsibilities
l
As a senior leader in the biologics discovery department, you will lead and grow the department to establish solid technical platforms in order to provide biologics discovery services.
l Serve as key technical leader and provide leadership to a team of scientists with diverse experience. Coach and develop junior scientists and their professional competence.
l Provide and maintain state-of-the-art technical capabilities in the field of Ab discovery and identify opportunities for improvement.
l Identify, establish and expand Ab and other biologics discovery technical platforms.
l Set functional goals and direction in collaboration with BD to expand service scope and capacity; grow functional business by generating and achieving service performance targets; drive project execution to ensure timely delivery.
l Maintain laboratory operations in organized and compliant fashion; standardize and streamline workflow to improve efficiency; evaluate and balance time and resource commitment with respect to business needs.
l Communicate and collaborate with other functional groups in BCS and within Pharmaron to achieve business goals.

Qualifications
l Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Chemistry, or related biological fields, with 10-15 years of professional working experience and at least 8-10 years in Ab and biologics discovery area.
l Comprehensive understanding of Ab drug discovery process from initial candidate generation, engineering, screening and selection to final lead identification as well as the progression through the transition to clinical development
l Required knowledge and experience in the following areas:
a) Extensive experience with contemporary antibody discovery technologies, including hybridoma, phage display, and single B cell cloning, and Ab engineering
b) Technical expertise in various therapeutic Ab-derived modalities, including bispecific, nanobody, scFv, ADC, and other biologic modalities.
c) Hands-on experience in molecule design and construction, molecular cloning, hybridoma, phage display, protein expression, and bioassay.
d) Protein and Ab characterization using various biochemical and structural tools
l Experience (≥5 years) of leading a large group of scientists (≥ 20 people)
l Strong competency in communication, collaboration, and organization skills
l Self-motivated and collaborative, with excellent time management skills; strong commitment to solve difficult problem and drive through resolution.
l Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced and excellence-driven environment
l Analytical thinking to solve problem with open-minded and systematic approach.

l Track record of scientific publication in peer reviewed scientific journals
l Fluent in English and Chinese with both verbal and written skills
