Its predecessor firm, American Steel Foundries, was founded over 100 years ago in Chicago, United States with the consolidation of 8 US steel companies, the oldest of which began operating as early as 1882. In 1962, American Steel Foundries changed its name to Amsted Industries. Today, Amsted Industries has operations in 75 facilities in 13 countries across North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. In China, Amsted Industries is represented by Amsted China and 4 separate businesses: Amsted Rail, Baltimore Aircoil(BAC), ConMet and Amsted Automotive Group in 11 different cities in China.
