Objectives of the Job:
1. The core objective of this position is to design and develop IP/CC Systems including IP (Instrument Panel), CC (Center Console), and CCB (Cross-car Beam) (refer as "IP&Consl" below) on every step of the product development lifecycle from concept to launch in cooperation with a complete vehicle cross-functional team.
2. Sr. Engineer has the capability to work independently and/or to lead a small team by request to design and develop systems and components of IP/CC, deliver project results on-time and of high-quality to get acceptance from project lead and customer.
Main Duties:
1. Represent product engineering to lead project activities including communication for the cross-functional team of product design and development, complete vehicle architecture and attribute, weight and cost engineering, testing and validation, after-market engineering, purchase, quality, manufacturing, logistics, shops in plant, etc.
2. Develop IP/CC to meet functional and performance targets by means of typical sections, material selection, process feasibility evaluation, dimension and tolerance, kinematics analysis, functional oriented analysis, interface analysis and alignment, etc., and support engineering statements with explanatory experiences, benchmarking references, and objective data.
3. Generate 3D CAD data and 2D drawings with CAD software, CATIA or NX.
4. Deliver project documentation / deliverables at each milestone.
5. Lead and steer problem-solving for engineering / product issues in prototyping, testing and validation, and production launch.
6. Detect conflict of goals and objectives, develop potential solutions for decision-making.
7. Interface and manage component suppliers on technical and product activities to ensure in-time delivery of components to the required technical specification.
8. Manage engineering changes during validation and launch phase.
9. Manage variants and overlook commonality strategy among different vehicle models.
10. Track issues and provide status reports on a regular basis.
11. Escalate technical / project / organization issues in a timely manner not to jeopardize project execution and organizational healthiness.
12. Perform other engineering tasks as required by Module Leader / Group Leader.
Qualification:
1. The candidate must have five or more years of relevant IP/CC experience and VW work experience. They should also be familiar with VW work processes.
2. Engineering degree in Automotive engineering, Mechanical engineering, Industrial engineering, etc.
3. Proficient in oral and written English. German is preferred.
4. Proficient in CATIA V5 and Microsoft Office Suite. NX is preferred.
5. Comprehensive and good understanding for the commodities to be developed.
6. Good understanding of vehicle engineering topics (e.g., mechanics, mechatronic, material, strength and stiffness, durability, functional safety)
7. Good knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, molding and other fabrication methods; welding and other joining methods; painting; and general assembling)
8. General understanding of quality management and quality tools.
9. Deep understanding of project management principles and best practices
10. Good understanding of vehicle development processes. Experience with German OEM is preferred.
11. Advanced soft skills in communication, leadership, conflict resolution, moderation and presentation.

13. Be able to travel domestically and abroad.
